Abstract: Throughout his life Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was guided by the ideals of Nationalism and secularism. These ideals were fround true expression in his immense political actions. Netaji is one of the legendary figures in our sub-continental history. Besides he has a special relevence for Dhaka. He has long fed into the Bengali notions of pride as well as neglect in indepenpent India. Netaji visited Dhaka for five times, first in 1924 and last in 1940 after he had resigned as the Congress president. His very last public meeting in undivided India was held right here in Dhaka on May 20, 1940, under the aegis of the Bengal Political Conference, where he boldly advocated self-rule for India. Netaji rightly felt British capitalist’s wave rapidly building infrastructure in England to benefit themselves as the expense of the masses of Bengal. This paper analyses the Netaji’s deep touch with Dhaka and he could not be away from it for too long, if ever. We draw our inspiration from Netaji whose ideals were inspired by the real life experiences of ordinary people.
