Abstract: Kurds are one of the largest stateless communities in the world. There are approximately 35-40 million Kurds in Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Armenia and Syria. More than half of the world's Kurds live in Turkey where they represent almost 18-20% of the population. The Kurds are the fourth largest ethnic minority in the Middle East. Kurdish separatism is not a simple expression of discontent, but a movement that demands changing the map of the world to make a place for an independent Kurdish state or to create some kind of autonomy. The Kurdish crisis is a political problem which is related to Turkish national security. The Kurdish minority question has deeply influenced the national and international policies of Turkey since the 1990s. The conflict between the Turkish government and the Kurdish organization Kurdistan Workers Party (Parti Karkerani Kurdistan - PKK) has left more than 30,000 people dead. The Kurdish crisis is one of the most important problems in international affairs which started basically with the secession of Kurdistan and will end with the unification that means creating a new Kurdish state. Ultimately without making an Independent Kurdish State, this issue cannot be resolved. But no state in the Middle East or West will support Kurdish state like Kurdistan, because it would create instability in this region.
Key Words: PKK, Kurds, Kurdistan, Turkey, Ethnic Minority.
