Abstract: On March 23, 1956, Pakistan's first constitution came into force. The Constitution stated that the government would be federal and that Pakistan would be an Islamic Republic. The provinces were rendered weaker than the centre by this Constitution. Daily newspapers in Dhaka responded to the Constitution not on the basis of its merits but rather because of their own political beliefs. While some newspapers were critical of the Constitution, others were in favour of it. The paper's objective is to evaluate the response of Dhaka's daily newspapers to Pakistan's first constitution. The Ittefaq, the Azad, the Sangbad, the Pakistan Observer, the Morning News, the Millat, the Ittehad, the Insaf and other daily newspapers have all been considered in this article.

Key Words: Constitution, Federal Government, Provincial Autonomy.
