Abstract:Abstract: Arabic and Persian inscriptions of Bengal are important primary sources to reconstruct medieval history. Dependence on these inscriptions increased due to absence of contemporary historical writings. Gayebi Dighi inscription of Sultan Rukun Uddin Barbak Shah (1459-1478) was found in Gayebi Dighi in 1954 beside the estuary of the river Barak, in Bhanga Mohokuma under Sylhet District. Initially it was published by Shamsuddin Ahmed and later on it was included in epigraphic corpuses. In the previous readings and translations the current author found some contradictions and improprieties. This article analyzes and suggests a reading that differs with previous explanations of the Gayebi Dighi inscription. Key Words: Gayebi Dighi Inscription, Medieval age, Khan Jahan.
